ODF Updates its E-Notification System

Update from the Oregon Department of Forestry:

ODF has made upgrades to its E-Notification System to help landowners give notice of their forest operation and to comply with new Forest Practices Act regulations.

The E-notification System commonly referred to as FERNS will now have check boxes for small for notifiers to notify as a small forest landowners (SFO) versus non-small forest landowners, added tags for uploaded documents and an added fifth field watershed intersect to inform customers when their Riparian Management Area (RMA) is available for the Small Forestland Owner minimum options.

The department has also added a “find a forester help menu” for easier access to contact information.

Other upgrades and changes are: An updated Completion Reporting Process – including added email reminders before and after completion reporting deadline; added RMA selection to SFO Notification of Operations and/or Application (NOAPS) users must choose what RMA practice they are going to use at the time of notification; and updated the system to only require Road Condition Assessments for harvest notifications for Small Forestland Owners.

There is a step-by-step training video available on the ODF to better explain how to use the updated system, including the new upgrades on the website.
