Our Watershed
The Applegate watershed, located in southwestern Oregon and dipping into northern California, encompasses just under 500,000 acres of great ecological diversity, including three federally threatened species. It extends into three counties - Jackson, Josephine, and Siskiyou - and is home to over 12,000 people. Steep and rugged, ranging from 1,000 to 7,000 feet elevation, its many ownerships include residential lots, small wood-land and hobby farms, and industrial forests; but most of all, 70% of the watershed is managed as public lands by the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management.

βWe are not separated from the sky, the earth, the ground, the mountain, the rock, and the swimmers in the waters. We are not separate. We are connected. We are a chain. And we are that voice to all of those things that sustain our lives.β
